27th March 2020
With the high degree of uncertainty currently facing many organizations, it’s not going to be a surprise that Carbon Safety Solutions has put the fall 2020 Wellness in the Workplace event on hold.
The intent was to host a two day event in October at Tigh-Na-Mara with a live panel discussion on engagement, diversity, and inclusion, networking opportunities, and a great lineup of speakers to discuss:
While this was a difficult decision to make, there is a large degree of uncertainty that the health of our workplaces, communities, or economy will be well enough by the fall to host these types of events. So the intent is to reschedule for spring of 2021.
Carbon Safety Solutions will begin reviewing the potential to run the event again as soon as health officials and the economy can demonstrate a degree of confidence that social and business engagement may begin to return to normal. Optimistically perhaps by the winter of 2020, or ideally sooner, Carbon Safety Solutions will investigate the potential to host the event again depending on interest, and ability of the Island community to support the event. I will post any updates on social media.
I would like to thank Tigh-Na-Mara for all the support in getting a venue organized, and hope to go ahead with the event in the new year when there is more certainty around our communities ability to support this event.
I would also like to thank 102.3 The Wave and 106.9 The Wolf for the agreement to sponsor, and help planning the marketing and promotion for the event up to this point.
I would also like to thank the many speakers that were volunteering time to speak at this years event. One speaker that was preparing a talk on the management of infections disease was Dr. Jim Ayukekbong CEO of Epitech Consulting, I’m sure that Dr. Ayukekbong will have the ear of the audience in the new year.
This truly is a time to consider wellness in the workplace with much stress and anxiety for employers, employees, families, and individuals all uncertain as to what the future holds. One thing that is true, is that we are all in this together.
Give some thought to the importance of community, and focus on doing your part to stay home, flatten the curve, and support our healthcare workers, and each other.
Best wishes to everyone as we all make our way through these unprecedented challenges. I look forward to connecting with you all in good health at some point.
