Carbon Safety was founded in 2018 by Scott Lescak, a health, safety, and environmental professional with over 20 years of experience.
A Brief History
Carbon Safety Solutions is based in Nanaimo BC, and was initially focused on supporting clients across British Columbia between 2018 and 2022 using a collaborative approach to assist organizations in continually improving their Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Systems.
Working with clients to use their knowledge of their business, products, services, and industry, Carbon Safety Solutions aimed to provide clients with expertise in health, safety and environmental management to achieve a mutual understanding of where the organizations hazards exist, where OHSE performance was on track, and where it needed to improve.
The Carbon Safety Model
The Carbon Safety Model was developed as a unique framework to help clients work through the process of assessing strengths, and areas of improvement in the management of workplace health and safety.
The intent of the model is to focus on core aspects of a safety program such as the culture of the organization, and effective interventions, barriers, and controls that help to eliminate hazards, or reduce risk to workers within their work environments. The outer rings are focused on management’s interpretation, and expectations of safety in their workplace.
Wellness in The Workplace
Since it’s first year of operation, Carbon Safety Solutions has been focused on the importance of balancing the workplace not just between production, and traditional health and safety, but also considering the importance of wellness within the workplace.
Many of us spend 8 to 12 hours a day at our workplaces. In many cases spending more time with our colleagues than we do with our friends and families, dealing with a number of work related challenges, and requirements while we do so.
Carbon Safety has hosted a number of annual events to bring together organizations to discuss, and learn how we can continue to create workplaces that enrich worker lives by recharging wellness, rather than draining it.
Looking into best practices from around B.C. and beyond, including indigenous considerations and practices, Wellness in The Workplace has been about the continued quest for a balanced, and harmonious work and home life.
The RPM Tool
Carbon Safety Solutions has integrated the consulting side of the business with Orca Health and Safety. We are still working on, supporting, and developing The Risk and Program Management Tool (RPM Tool).
The RPM Tool has been in development almost since the start of the company.
It was envisioned as an online process that allowed Carbon Safety to work with organizations to assess key aspects of their culture, core safety measures, and to develop an effective hazard catalogue and risk register which can form the foundation of an effective safety program.
The tool also provides an online document repository where safety program documents can be stored, and has been designed in line with the Carbon Safety Model to help provide a unique safety program framework.
The RPM Tool document portal is an interface that allows editors access to amend documents, and other users read only access available at a the click of a button.
Synergistic Integration
